Course Information
Art I is an introduction to the visual arts for students of all skill levels. Emphasis will be placed on the Elements of Art with an introduction to the Principles of Design. Students will create, produce, and evaluate art in this course. We will be working in 2D with traditional media to develop basic drawing and painting techniques.

Elements of Art Booklet
Students will create a folding book that offers examples and definitions for each element of art.

Students will create artwork inspired by calaveras that incorporate line, and shape with a focus on color.

Contour Drawings

Students will create a self portrait using the design elements from playing cards |
Clay
Students will create clay sculptures by joining pinch pots. |
Oil pastels
Students will create tints and shades with oil pastels |
Acrylic Painting
Students will use chipboard to create landscapes |
Celebrity Portraits
Students will use a grid to draw a celebrity portrait.. |
Surreal Rooms
Students will use one point perspective to create rooms inspired by surrealism. |
Exquisite Corpse
Students will create a work of art inspired by a drawing game |
